My trip to Kenya in April 2021 was an experience of a lifetime. I was

able to travel with a team from my church to visit a missionary there

that is supported by our church.

Maggie Friedrich from On Eagles Wings serves and changes the lives

of so many men, woman and children of the slums of Nairobi.

I had the opportunity to serve with her and the team in so many ways.

My two favorite activities were teaching the children and visiting

the Masai tribe to deliver food and minister to the women.

The children blessed me way more than I could ever have blessed

them. I had the privilege to do a lesson on Isaiah 60:1 along with a

two day craft associated around that verse. Their smiles, laughter,

and all around joy of learning made my heart soar.

The trip to the Masai tribe reminded me of my work in Uganda, so my

heart was full of expectations and joy even before I arrived. Once we

were there, each one of us was greeted with love and admiration.

Handmade gifts were distributed to each of us and so the food we

gave to them seemed trivial in response.

The simplicity of their lives does not mean poverty. It just creates a

broader gateway to a reliance on the Lord. They taught me about

being faithful.

Hands on

Learning what makes a person tick is important when you are researching options on any given topic. Any arena of interest will have professionals and lay persons involved that either validate or disqualify themselves on their individual merits and experience. Karen Bode is a well respected professional that works directly with people needing hands on help. It’s one thing to observe from afar and quite another to be ‘in the field’ ministering to the ones in need.

Results speak volumes

What stands the test of time is results. The evidence is unmistakeable when it’s staring you in the face. Karen has a tenderness only experience can create. Working with damaged and wounded women is certainly a special calling, not taken lightly nor done in a casual fashion. It’s good to know that someone like Karen is available to such devasted people.
